Our Services
We are here for you now and will be there for your child in the future.
When the time feels right, By Their Side will be here to meet with your family, taking the time to understand your loved one's unique needs and wishes, as well as the advocacy concerns close to your heart.
You’re in control of when our services begin and how often your advocate will visit and check in. We’re here to support sibling advocacy and keep trustees informed about any financial needs.
Your Personal Advocate will become a trusted companion—someone who visits regularly, monitors well-being, and addresses any issues that come up. While we know no one can replace the special bond you have with your son or daughter, you can find comfort in knowing we will be by their side, just as you've planned.
To be eligible for By Their Side Advocacy Services, the person to be served must:
-
Have a diagnosis of intellectual/developmental disability and be eligible for services from the Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA)
-
Reside in the State of Maryland. Residency requirement does not apply to sponsoring families.
-
Provide an evaluation to identify the nature and impact of the disability or, if receiving DDA funded services, a Person Centered Plan within the past 2 years may be provided in lieu of evaluation.
-
Each application will additionally be considered by the Board of Directors based on the ability of the organization to meet his or her advocacy needs.
